Episode 1 - S17 EP1 The Battle Round Auditions IIn the first heat, five amateur cooks compete for two quarterfinal places; the competition introduces a new round in which each cook must showcase their favourite ingredient.

Episode 2 - S17 EP2 The Battle Round Auditions IIFive amateur cooks compete in the second heat. To win a quarterfinal place, they must impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace along with former champions Saliha Mahmood Ahmed and Kenny Tutt.

Episode 3 - S17 EP3 Episode 3The four winners from the first week of heats return to compete in the first quarterfinal. They are challenged by food critic Grace Dent to prepare a great British pudding.

Episode 4 - S17 EP4 Episode 4The top 18 contestants face their first team challenge in a 10th anniversary-themed pool party; the home cooks dish up party food for 100 VIP guests, including former contestants and winners.

Episode 7 - S17 EP7 Gordon Takes on a TarteThe remaining home cooks face another elimination challenge in which they have to replicate the dish du jour, tarte Tatin that must be prepared with silky crème anglaise sauce.

Episode 8 - S17 EP8 Episode 8Five more amateurs try to prove they have potential. With only four aprons up for grabs, competition is fierce, the contestants getting their first chance by cooking their signature dish.

Episode 9 - S17 EP9 Episode 9In the third quarterfinal, the four heat winners fight for a place in the semifinal. The Critic's Test challenge sees the four cook a dessert where stone fruit is the star, a brief set by one of the country's toughest food critics, Jay Rayner.

Episode 10 - S17 EP10 Episode 10After tasting all five plates, John and Gregg pick their two favourite dishes and those cooks earn a place in the next round. The remaining three contestants have to pull out all the stops as they cook off in the Favourite Ingredient Challenge.

Episode 14 - S17 EP14 Episode 14The second group of five semi-finalists experience the pressure of a professional kitchen for the first time. With guest judge Marcus Wareing.

Episode 15 - S17 EP15 Episode 15In the last challenge of the semifinals, the six remaining amateurs cook off in front of three esteemed food critics to win a coveted place in the finals.

Episode 16 - S17 EP16 NASCAR -- Finish Line FeedThe top 10 contestants test their speed in a special team challenge at the Irwindale Speedway, where they have 75 minutes to cook for 101 race car crew members.
