Episode 1 - The Long Morrow

In the storybook Connecticut town of Stars Hollow, thirtysomething Lorelai Gilmore (series star LAUREN GRAHAM) and her college-age daughter, Rory (series star ALEXIS BLEDEL), have been growing up together. Lorelai's elation over her engagement to diner owner Luke Danes (series star SCOTT PATTERSON) recently turned to frustration when he learned that he has a 12-year-old daughter, and unable to wait for Luke to come to terms with this life-changing discovery, Lorelai left him. Rory also faced a tumultuous year, dropping out of Yale after her dreams of becoming a journalist were dashed by a newspaper mogul who just happens to be the father of her boyfriend, Logan Huntzberger. Rory's reckless behavior led to an unusual and painful parting of the ways between mother and daughter, with Rory moving in with Lorelai's patrician, old-money parents, Emily and Richard. But Rory has now realized that she belongs back at Yale, and she and Lorelai have joyfully reunited.

Episode 2 - That's What You Get, Folks, for Makin' Whoopie

Rory is upset over Logan's absence and the fact that they had to cancel their long-planned trip to Asia. Wanting to cheer Rory up and distract herself from her own sad love life, Lorelai turns her house into an Asian-themed wonderland. Lane returns from her disastrous honeymoon. While repairing the damage to the diner, Luke tells his brother-in-law, T.J. (recurring guest star MICHAEL DeLUISE), about his breakup with Lorelai, prompting T.J. and Luke's sister, Liz (recurring guest star KATHLEEN WILHOITE), to insist that Luke come over for dinner and sympathy. When Luke and Lorelai run into each other in town, Luke can't hide his anger over their breakup. And Rory is furious when she learns that Lorelai slept with Christopher (recurring guest star DAVID SUTCLIFFE).

Episode 3 - Lorelai's First Cotillion

When Richard and Emily display no real reaction to the news of her breakup with Luke, Lorelai realizes that most of her emotional life has been based on doing and feeling the opposite of whatever her parents want. Later, when Michel forces Lorelai to attend Emily's beautiful cotillion dance, Lorelai discovers that some things her parents wanted for her weren't really that terrible. Meanwhile, Rory has a tough time making her long-distance relationship with Logan work. And after taking Rory out for a father/daughter dinner, Christopher (recurring guest star DAVID SUTCLIFFE) makes a startling confession to Lorelai.

The meal ends abruptly when Rory insists that everyone has to leave and cover a breaking story.
