Episode 1 - Pilot

Divorced working mother Christine Campbell (series star Julia Louis-Dreyfus) owns a women's 30-minute workout gym, successfully juggling the daily stresses of motherhood and her business. Her 8-year-old son, Ritchie (series star Trevor Gagnon), has just been accepted into a posh private school frequented by two snooty stay-at-home moms, Marly (series star Tricia O'Kelley) and Lindsay (series star Alex Kapp Horner). Christine's twentysomething slacker brother, Matthew (series star Hamish Linklater), lives with her and also serves as Ritchie's babysitter. Episode 1 - Season 1, Episode 1: Pilot

Divorced working mother Christine Campbell (series star Julia Louis-Dreyfus) owns a women's 30-minute workout gym, successfully juggling the daily stresses of motherhood and her business. Upon learning that Richard and "new" Christine are enjoying an intimate relationship, Christine becomes determined to make her own romantic conquests. Meanwhile, due to the new living arrangements, Matthew relocates to Ritchie's room, where he discovers his nephew's strange sleep habits.

When manipulative moms Marly and Lindsay convince Christine to serve hot lunch at Ritchie's school, Christine finds herself serving with Stan (recurring guest star Andy Richter), also known as, Sad Dad,and she finally admits why she's so attracted to him. After Matthew's date from the previous night shows no intention of ever leaving, Christine decides that she and Matthew must take control of their dating lives, and she vows never to sleep with Stan again.

Christine's attraction to Ritchie's teacher, Mr. Harris (recurring guest star Blair Underwood), causes a scene at a school fundraiser---especially after Ritchie wins a playdate with him. Meanwhile, Matthew, Richard and Barb (recurring guest star Wanda Sykes) demand that Christine get organized after they all arrive at the same time to pick up Ritchie after school.

When Christine realizes she can't afford the newly raised tuition at Ritchie's school, she tries to get help from everyone except the person who is offering it freely: Barb (recurring guest star Wanda Sykes). Meanwhile, after Matthew views a video message to himself that he recorded 10 years ago, he decides it's time to change his life.

When Christine's modest hybrid car crashes into Marly's gigantic sports utility vehicle in the school parking lot, the women agree to take care of their own damage. Meanwhile, although she is an avowed environmentalist, Christine rents a huge luxury vehicle and guiltily enjoys it. Christine reluctantly signs Ritchie up for soccer after Mr. Harris (recurring guest star Blair Underwood), Ritchie's fourth grade teacher and the school's soccer coach, informs her and Richard that Ritchie is having trouble making friends. Richard feels strongly that it's a good idea for Ritchie to learn about team sports and have more a male influence in his life. When Ritchie stops telling Christine he loves her, she is devastated and asks Richard to have a baby with her so she can have a new child to love her the way Ritchie used to.

Barb and Christine meet two men at a video store and prepare to go on a casual, double date. Christine and Richard help Marly and Lindsay through labor, evoking memories of Ritchie's birth -- and possibly rekindling romantic feelings.

After Marly and Lindsay accuse Christine of causing a school outbreak of lice, she decides to pull Ritchie out of his snobby private school and give public school a chance, something that is not as easy as she anticipates. Guest star KATHLEEN WILHOITE ("Gilmore Girls," "ER") appears as Mrs. Sellick, down-to-earth mom at the new school. Recurring guest star MARY McDONOUGH ("The Waltons") appears as Mrs. Wilhoite.

Christine uses her expertise as a gym owner to help Matthew lose weight. In her attempt to help him, however, Christine is unable to shed the extra pounds she has put on herself.

Christine's plan to prove that she's comfortable with Richard's remarriage backfires when the date she's supposedly, in love with, Todd (recurring guest star LEE TERGESEN -"Oz," "Wanted"), acts obnoxiously at the rehearsal dinner. Feelings are reawakened in Christine and Papa Jeff (recurring guest star SCOTT BAKULA - "Enterprise," "Quantum Leap"), New Christine's father and Christine's old flame, as they rekindle their relationship at Richard and New Christine's wedding. But then Christine learns some shocking news about New Christine's father. Recurring guest star CONSTANCE ZIMMER ("Entourage," "Boston Legal") appears as Amy, new Christine's sister and Matthew's new flame, and guest star JAMES LESURE ("Las Vegas," "Lipstick Jungle") appears as Dave, a guest at the wedding guest and a potential hookup for Barb.

  

Episode 68 - Season 5, Episode 1: Bahamian Rhapsody

Christine's 13-year-old son, Ritchie (series star Trevor Gagnon), is now starting middle school at the posh private school where Christine endures endless encounters with two snooty, stay-at-home, meanie moms,Marly (series star Tricia O'Kelley), and Lindsay, (series star Alex Kapp Horner). Keeping Christine grounded is her younger brother, Matthew (series star Hamish Linklater), who lives with her, helping to care for Ritchie and serving as her emotional rock. The formerly floundering Matthew recently found his path, and it wasn't with the help of a therapist; in fact, it's as a therapist. Everyone seems to be making changes with their lives; now Christine is trying to do the same with hers. In the fifth season premiere, Christine and Matthew fly to the Bahamas to help get Barb an illegal visa, after she was thrown in jail by immigration during Richard and New Christine's disastrous wedding in the season four finale.

  

Episode 69 - Season 5, Episode 2: Burning Love

Christine and Richard meet up with some old college buddies and are shocked to see how much their friends have aged.

  

Episode 70 - Season 5, Episode 3: The Mole

Christine thinks she is dying after Richard awkwardly spots an irregular mole on her chest, and panics when she can not get in to see a doctor fast enough. Meanwhile, Richard decides he needs to move back in with New Christine.

  

Episode 71 - Season 5, Episode 4: For Love or Money

After Barb has her lawyer send over divorce papers, Christine hires an aggressive divorce attorney, Howard (guest star Corbin Bernsen - Pysch, L.A. Law), who convinces her that Barb owes her alimony.

  

Episode 72 - Season 5, Episode 5: Doctor Little Man

Christine begins seeing a therapist, Dr. Max Kershaw (recurring guest star Eric McCormack - Will & Grace ), who shares office space with Matthew, although it's unclear whether Christine is interested in pursuing therapy or romance.

  

Episode 73 - Season 5, Episode 6: The Curious Case of Britney B

Christine surpasses the Meanie Moms in popularity when Ritchie is asked to a dance by the most popular girl in school. Plus, Matthew and Richard try to evict an elderly woman, Agnes Ross (guest star Marion Ross - Happy Days), from the apartment they hope to rent.

  

Episode 74 - Season 5, Episode 7: Nuts

Max (recurring guest star Eric McCormack) points out to Christine that she tends to quit things when they get too difficult, including relationships. This, he says, is one of the reasons he chose to be her therapist rather than her boyfriend.

  

Episode 75 - Season 5, Episode 8: Love Means Never Having to Say You're Crazy

Christine sets Richard up on a date with Tracey (guest star and real-life wife of series star Clark Gregg, Jennifer Grey - Dirty, Dancing), a gorgeous, passionate woman who works out at her gym. Meanwhile Richard's friend, Tom (recurring guest star Dave Foley -, News Radio), who has a longstanding crush on Christine, continues trying to woo her.

  

Episode 76 - Season 5, Episode 9: I Love Woo I Hate You

Barb insists that Christine join her on a date with Dave (recurring guest star JAMES LESURE - For Your Love, Las Vegas), the immigration officer Barb has been dating, fearing that he might propose to her. Meanwhile, Richard realizes he must woo New Christine in order to get her back.

  

Episode 77 - Season 5, Episode 10: Old Christine Meets Young Frankenstein

When Christine finds out that Ritchie has been bullying other kids, she decides to set a good example and apologize to the woman she used to terrorize at school when she was young. Guest star Amy Sedaris (Strangers with Candy) appears as Frances, the woman Christine dubbed, Frankenstein, in junior high school, and Michaela Watkins (Saturday Night Live) returns as Matthew's unstable girlfriend, Lucy.

  

Episode 78 - Season 5, Episode 11: It's Beginning to Stink a Lot Like Christmas

Christine reluctantly attends her neighbor's holiday block party where she discovers a juicy secret. Guest star MOLLY SHANNON, (Saturday Night Live, Evan Almighty) appears as Christine's neighbor, Jeannie, and recurring guest star MICHAELA WATKINS appears as, Matthew's girlfriend, Lucy.

  

Episode 79 - Season 5, Episode 12: A Whale of a Tale

When Christine decides to tell her therapist she's in love with him, his response is not what she expected. Recurring guest star Eric McCormack appears as Max, Christine's therapist.

  

Episode 80 - Season 5, Episode 13: Truth or Dare

Christine finds herself falling in love with Max (recurring guest star Eric McCormack) until her ex-boyfriend, Mr. Harris (recurring guest star Blair Underwood), comes back into her life. Will she have to choose?

  

Episode 81 - Season 5, Episode 14: A Family Unfair

Christine feels left out as Richard and New Christine plan for their baby and decides she wants one too and decides to ask Richard, for his help. Guest star TIM MEADOWS (Saturday Night Live, The Bill Engvall Show, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story) appears as Dr. Volk, New Christine's OB/GYN.

  

Episode 82 - Season 5, Episode 15: Sweet Charity

When Christine and Barb find their business unexpectedly profitable, Christine undergoes a personal crisis trying to decide whether to spend her share of the newfound money on herself and splurge on a designer dress, or to follow Barb's lead and give it to charity. Guest star ED BEGLEY JR. (Gary Unmarried, Arrested Development, Pineapple Express, St. Elsewhere) appears as Pastor Ed.

  

Episode 83 - Season 5, Episode 16: Subway Somehow

Christine urges Ritchie's school principal (recurring guest star NANCY LENEHAN - My Name Is Earl, Worst Week) to let the class take the subway on a field trip in order to learn real-world skills. But when the train leaves without her, Christine finds herself stranded at the station.

  

Episode 84 - Season 5, Episode 17: Up In the Airport

When Christine realizes Ritchie's never been on a real family vacation like his classmates, she plans a trip to Florida. But things don't turn out quite as she intended and the trip goes horribly awry.

  

Episode 85 - Season 5, Episode 18: Revenge Makeover

Old Christine takes a cranky, very pregnant New Christine to a fancy salon to prepare her for the impromptu wedding that Richard is secretly planning. Recurring guest star SCOTT BAKULA appears as Old Christine's ex-boyfriend and New Christine's father, Papa Jeff.

  

Episode 86 - Season 5, Episode 19: I Love What You Do for Me

When Christine discovers that her five-year car lease is up, she evaluates her life during that time and realizes that not much has changed. She vows to make some big changes. Max (recurring guest star ERIC McCORMACK) offers to help.

  

Episode 87 - Season 5, Episode 20: Scream

Christine convinces Matthew to stay over after a good-looking cop named Officer Johnson (guest star JOSH RANDALL - Ed), who Christine assumes is a stripper, alerts her that there is a prowler in the neighborhood. Episode 88 - Season 5, Episode 21: Get Smarter

In the fifth season finale, Christine has Matthew and Barb throw her a, surprise, engagement party so she can get to know Max's (recurring guest star ERIC McCORMACK) friends. But she begins to feel intellectually inferior to one particular guest, driving her to make a, surprising, decision.
