Love for Jesus Christ Superstar as a child led him to build a wooden cross and act out a crucifixion. Played the lead role in his high school's production of S'cool in 1980, which was created by McLachlan's music teacher. Worked as a plumber to support himself while looking for auditions. Flirted and joked with Neighbours audition panel to land first acting job. Released his debut album, Craig McLachlan & Check 1-2, in 1990, which featured a hit cover of Bo Diddley's "Mona". Has frequently played the role of Frank N Furter from The Rocky Horror Show on the Australian stage, first playing the role in 1993. Played Danny in the original cast of the 1993 West End revival production of Grease, opposite Deborah Gibson and Tamzin Outhwaite. Booed off The Footy Show in 2005 after his debut stand-up comedy routine. Ambassador for the Unicorn Foundation.
