But when Oskar receives anonymous messages relating to the murder, he can’t resist delving further. Oskar asks Max to coax Lily, the shocked girl, to talk to the police.

Episode 5 - Darkness Rising, Part 1A fanatical monk, Brother Stanislav, has been found brutally beaten to death in the monastery. Suspicion falls on a religious Jew, Isaak Korngold, who had recently reprimanded the monk for spreading anti-Semitic rhetoric. Oskar arrests him, and the ensuing scandal threatens the upcoming marriage of the suspect’s brother Jonas Korngold to Clara. Clara pleads with her ex-fiancé Max for help.

Episode 6 - Darkness Rising, Part 2Inside the monastery, Max discovers a clue that reveals a hint at the monk’s behavior. Oskar approaches Amelia Lydgate and her mentor for scientific expertise. The atmosphere intensifies when another Brother is found dead. To untangle the truth, Max will need to become acquainted with the devil dressed in all his finery.
