Biography
About Avtar Gill
Was born in Ludhiana (Punjab) but moved to Mumbai (Maharastra) when he was only 40 days old. Wanted to become a wrestler since childhood. Hailing from an orthodox Sikh family, had to convince his family and shave his beard and shorten his hair to get into acting.
Got his first role in Noorie (1979) that fetched his first salary of 500 Indian rupees which he gave away to his mother. Has performed in Hindi, English, Punjabi, Marathi and many other language plays all over India and abroad. Is the brother of assistant director Kuljinder Singh Gill aka Pinky Gill who passed away from accident on the sets of Mera Naam Tera Naam ( Wah Tera Kya Kehna).
