Biography
About Asrani
Worked as a voice actor at a radio station to help fund his studies. Played alongside his future wife Manju Bansal in Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar (1973) and Tapasya (1976). Won the Filmfare Best Comedian Award for Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar (1973) and Balika Badhu (1977).
After directing the Gujarati film Amdavad No Rikshawalo (1974), all of his subsequent films have been in Hindi. Was director of the renowned Film Institute in Pune from 1988 to 1993.
