Biography
About Uttam Kumar
Made his debut in Drishtidan (1948). Well-known as the Mahanayak (great hero) in the Bengali film industry. Received the Bengal Film Journalists' Association's Best Actor Award for seven movies during his lifetime.
Was the recipient of the first ever National Film Award for Best Actor for the movies Antony Firingee (1967) and Chiriyakhana (1967) after the award was instituted by the government in 1967.
