By the age of 10 he had already decided that he wanted to pursue a career in broadcasting and began to write to the BBC. At 15 he landed a job on a Sunday show on Hospital Radio Plymouth. Had a top 40 hit with Close Every Door from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Has dual citizenship with New Zealand. One of his most prized possessions is an autograph signed by Katharine Hepburn.
