Jonas and his crew fly to Afghanistan to assassinate a defense minister, but the mission is compromised when a team helicopter goes down in enemy territory. Jonas decides on a rescue attempt that could mean aborting the mission. Back at the base, Molly confronts an old friend and retired Unit veteran, now paralysed, about his addiction to painkillers, and Kim tries to land a job at a radio station.

SERE — The Unit
Jonas and his team participate in a SERE (Survive, Evade, Resist, Escape) drill in which they are taken to an Army camp and treated as prisoners of war. Unfortunately, the drill is run by a doctor who intends to push the men to their limit, even if it means putting their lives in danger. Back at the base, Kim struggles with her faith in God and Molly tries to help her find it again.

The Unit members travel to Brazil to stop a drug lord who is now dealing weapons after getting his hands on a crate of surface-to-air missiles. The mission is complicated by the fact that the dealer's guards are mostly teenage boys and Jonas's crew doesn't want to harm them. Back at the base, Kim stirs up trouble at the family-readiness group when she tries to bring about changes, and William's girlfriend reacts strongly when she discovers what his real job is in the Army.

Back at home, Kim gets an unwelcome visit at the radio station from an admirer she spoke to on the phone, and Molly ponders whether to take advantage of a real-estate investment opportunity.

A newspaper reporter who is the son of a now-deceased Unit member returns to the base to learn the truth about his father's death and to write a story about it. But Jonas tries to stop him, fearing that the article could threaten the team's secrecy and put men's lives in danger. Meanwhile, Molly attempts to recover the $40,000 that was stolen from her, and Bob is faced with a dilemma when a Unit widow insists that he sleep with her.

The Unit helps the UN capture a war criminal in Serbia. The man's wife is killed during the initial attack to bring him in and he seeks revenge. Back at home, Jonas learns that Molly lost their savings and confronts her about it, and Tiffy considers divorcing Mack after she reads a letter indicating that he has re-enlisted. Also, Kim learns some disturbing news about a fellow Unit member's wife.
