Don Taylor (Actor) .. Mason

Born: December 13, 1920

Trivia: A Pennsylvania-born actor/director, Don Taylor appeared in such movies as Father of the Bride and Stalag 17 before switching to directing in 1961 with the juvenile comedy Everything's Ducky. His second film, Ride the Wild Surf (1964), was an above average teen exploitation movie that was very successful. But Taylor hit his stride as a serious filmmaker in 1968 with a jewel of a television feature called Something for a Lonely Man, a drama starring Dan Blocker and Susan Clark that became a favorite among critics. His next movie, Five Man Army (1970), was a popular spaghetti western, and his Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971) secured good reviews and assured the series' survival beyond its third installment. Island of Dr. Moreau (1977) was a solid, handsomely produced version of the H.G. Wells story, and a hit, as was Taylor's Damien: Omen II (1979). Final Countdown (1980) proved a success as well, perhaps the last non-slasher/non-fantasy related science-fiction adventure to reach audiences with low-tech special effects. Taylor's subsequent work was confined to TV movies, where he was busy throughout the '80s.

Dolores Hart (Actor) .. Claudia

Trivia: Dolores Hart was raised by her grandparents in Chicago. Not yet out of her teens, Hart was discovered by producer Hal Wallis, who cast her as Elvis' new leading lady in both Loving You (1957) and King Creole (1959). She appeared on Broadway in 1959's The Pleasure of His Company, then returned to Hollywood for her best remembered film, Where the Boys Are (1960). Her pious, reverent comments to interviewers while filming 1961's Francis of Assisi may have seemed like so much hype to Tinseltown cynics; but as it turned out, Hart's religiosity was very real. In 1963, Dolores Hart gave up her $50,000-per-picture career to enter a Benedictine order of nuns in Connecticut; after several years' probation as sister Judith, she matriculated to "Mother Dolores," which she remains to this day.

Harry Bellaver (Actor) .. Waggoner

Died: August 08, 1993

Trivia: Though born in the Midwest, character actor Harry Bellaver spent the better part of his screen career playing New York- or Brooklyn-bred cops, cabbies, doormen and petty thieves. His four-decade career began with MGM's Another Thin Man (1939), and ended when he retired after 1980's Hero at Large. An inescapable guest-star presence on 1950s and 1960s television, Harry Bellaver also played Sergeant Frank Arcaro on the weekly New York-filmed cop series The Naked City (1959-63).
