Alison Sweeney (Actor)

Trivia: Pretty and vivacious Alison Sweeney evinced an unmistakable onscreen presence in her first ongoing role, as Sami Brady, daughter of Marlena Evans, on the long, long-running daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives. Working with series producers and writers, Sweeney helped evolve the character from a wayward adolescent to a loving and responsible single mom. Sweeney maintained the role for well over a decade and a half (from 1993 onward). Meanwhile, she earned fame and recognition in another arena, taking advantage of the reality television trend that swept 2000s television by appearing on several related series. These included competitive shows -- such as Fear Factor, Celebrity Poker, and The Weakest Link (where Sweeney nearly broke the bank) -- and, more visibly, a hostess assignment in season four of The Biggest Loser, competition between numerous contestants vying to lose the most weight. Worked as a stockbroker before becoming a model for Versace, Armani, Calvin Klein and Valentino, which led to acting in the late 1990s. For first major role, on the NBC soap Days of Our Lives in 1999, had the added pressure of being followed by a film crew from Entertainment Tonight. In 2002, named one of People magazine's 50 Most Eligible Bachelors.

Birthplace: Portland, Oregon, United States

Trivia: Studied with Milton Katselas at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. Served on the Screen Actors Guild National Board of Directors for 3 years. Worked on more than 2,500 radio and television commercials. Acted in more than 14 Lifetime original movies. Appeared in a 2014 PSA supporting marriage equality titled She 4 Me. Is a motivational speaker who developed a media-training program called Unleash Your Star Power. Maintains dual citizenship of the U.S. and Canada. Volunteers at Kinder4Rescue, an animal rescue.
