Duppong, who always strove to live a faithful and selfless life, passed from cancer at age thirty-one on Christmas Day in 2015. Inspired by her legacy, Bishop David Kagan of Bismarck, North Dakota, opened the diocesan phase of investigation in 2022 to explore Duppong's life, leading to Duppong's beatification and canonization.
