Jewel Staite (Actor)
Born: June 02, 1982
Birthplace: White Rock, British Columbia, Canada
Trivia: Born in British Colombia in 1982, Jewel Staite began her career at age six when she was discovered at a Sears photography studio. At first the little girl was completely uninterested in appearing in a video, but once she was promised the chance to wear pretty clothes, she agreed. Staite soon appeared in commercials and on television shows such as Liar, Liar, The Odyssey, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, and The X-Files. At age 14, she was offered the lead role on the Disney TV show Space Cases. She soon afterward took a recurring role on the series Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show, as well as the troubled teen series Higher Ground. She continued to maintain her career through regular appearances on television until 2002 when Joss Whedon offered her a role that would help to define her as an actress. Playing the adorable, genius mechanic Kaylee aboard a space cargo ship on the TV series Firefly, Staite endeared herself to a feverishly devoted fan base. The cult audience that Firefly earned, however, was not enough for Fox to keep it on the air, and the series was pulled after only 11 episodes. Staite disappointed many fans when she was married in 2003. She regularly appeared on Wonderfalls, another "tragically canceled" show, before reprising the role of Kaylee in 2005 for the feature film adaptation of Firefly, Serenity. That same year, she also appeared on an episode of a show that shared a similar audience, Stargate Atlantis. She went on to appear in The Forgotten Ones, Mothman, and After Dusk They Come.
A.J. Buckley (Actor)
Born: February 09, 1978
Birthplace: Dublin, Ireland

Made his feature-film acting debut in the 1998 teen horror movie Disturbing Behavior, starring Katie Holmes and James Marsden. Has appeared in several sci-fi/horror TV series, including Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Fox's The X-Files and Millennium, and the CW's Supernatural. Has a movie and television production company called Fourfront Productions, and is part-owner and frequent contributor to Louisiana's Scene magazine.
Alan Dale (Actor)
Born: May 06, 1947
Birthplace: Dunedin, New Zealand
Trivia: Was an avid swimmer and rugby player in his youth. Worked at a variety of jobs before his acting career took off, including delivering milk, and selling cars and real estate. Performed in his parents' theater group and did radio voice-overs in New Zealand before moving to Australia in 1979, where he soon landed a role on the soap opera The Young Doctors. Became famous in Australia for playing the character Jim Robinson on the soap Neighbours for eight years. While he was playing bass in a band with his Neighbours costars at a 1987 charity event, a cast member named Kylie Minogue sang Little Eva's "The Loco-motion" with them, and her singing career was born. After moving to Los Angeles in 2000, quickly became familiar to U.S. audiences with roles on ER, The X-Files and The O.C., among other shows. Shared a 2007 Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series for the ABC dramedy Ugly Betty. Says his motto is the Winston Churchill quote, "Never, never, never give up."

Gordon Tootoosis (Actor)
Born: October 25, 1941
Died: July 05, 2011
Trivia: Renowned as both an actor and an activist, Gordon Tootoosis was born into a large family in Saskatchewan, Canada in 1941. Though Tootoosis' family lived a traditional Cree lifestyle, and were committed to preserving the culture of their native people, he was removed from his home and taken to a government run residential school at a young age, where he was forbidden from speaking his native language or practicing its traditions. This would help inspire the young man to commit even more strongly to his heritage, and he would go on to remain a vocal advocate for aboriginal rights, in addition to playing numerous roles that showcased native cultures, including Joe Saugus in the 2002 series Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, and Albert Golo on North of 60. Tootoosis would also help found the Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company, and serve as vice president of the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations. Tootoosis passed away in 2011 at the age of 69.
