Clint Walker (Actor)
Born: May 30, 1927
Trivia: Tall (6'7"), sturdily built Clint Walker held down a number of macho jobs ranging from sheet metal worker to nightclub bouncer before settling on acting as a profession. Disregarding a slightly embarrassing appearance as a faux Tarzan in the 1954 Bowery Boys opus Jungle Gents (in which he was billed as Jett Norman!), Walker's official film debut was a tiny role in DeMille's The Ten Commandments (1956). He signed with Warner Bros. in 1957, where he starred in the long-running Western TV series Cheyenne. During his Warners tenure, Walker spent as much time offscreen as on due to artistic differences and salary disputes. After Cheyenne left the air in 1963, Walker continued to appear in rugged action efforts like None but the Brave (1965), The Dirty Dozen (1967), and The White Buffalo (1976). Clint Walker's attempt to reclaim his earlier TV prominence resulted in the very short-lived 1975 series Kodiak.
Stefanie Powers (Actor)
Born: November 02, 1942
Birthplace: Hollywood, California, United States
Trivia: Born Stefania Federkiewicz, she is a lead actress of routine Hollywood films of the '60s and '70s. Soon after graduating from Hollywood High, she debuted onscreen in 1961; early in her career she was billed as Taffy Paul. She starred in the TV series Girl from U.N.C.L.E. and Hart to Hart. From 1966-74 she was married to actor Gary Lockwood, then she became the constant companion of aging actor William Holden; following his death in 1981, she continued being active with the William Holden Wildlife Foundation, which worked to create a big-game preserve and study center in Kenya.
Pedro Armendáriz Jr. (Actor)
Alex Karras (Actor)
Born: July 15, 1935
Died: October 10, 2012
Birthplace: Gary, Indiana, United States
Trivia: A college football star at the University of Iowa, Alex Karras turned professional in 1958, spending the next 14 years with the Detroit Lions. Karras went on to be selected All-Pro in 1960, 1961, 1963 and 1965. While still with Detroit, he made his first film appearance in Paper Lion (1969). His appetite for show business further whetted by his work in the announcing booth on ABC's Monday Night Football, Karras became a full-time actor in 1971. He displayed a keen sense of comic timing in such roles as Mongo in Blazing Saddles (1974) and gangster James Garner's gay henchman (who literally comes out of the closet) in Victor/Victoria (1981). He often appeared opposite his wife, actress Susan Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Karras co-starred in the TV biopic Babe (1975), the raunchy but successful Porky's, and the long-running (1983-87) TV sitcom Webster. In addition to his thespic activities, Karras co-authored several books, including Even Big Guys Cry (1977) and Alex Karras: My Life in Football (1979). Karras suffered from numerous health problems in his later years, including dementia and cancer, before ultimately succumbing to kidney failure at the age of 77 in 2012.
Pedro Armendáriz Jr. (Actor)
Born: April 06, 1940
Died: December 26, 2011
Trivia: The son of Mexican film legend Pedro Armendáriz, Pedro Armendáriz Jr. became a movie and television star in his own right, both in Mexico and abroad. Indeed, there are intriguing parallels between the careers of the two men: Both portrayed real-life Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa (Sr. in multiple films, Jr. in 1989's The Old Gringo), and both had supporting roles in James Bond movies (Sr. played 007's contact in Turkey in 1963's From Russia With Love, while Jr. played a corrupt politician in 1989's Licence to Kill).Armendáriz started acting in the '70s, mostly with bit parts in violent Westerns starring Anthony Quinn, John Wayne, or Clint Eastwood. While he became a leading man in his native country, he was relegated to mostly walk-on roles in U.S. productions for a long time; while American audiences would probably best recognize him from Licence to Kill or The Old Gringo, he also had small roles in Before Night Falls(2000), The Mexican (2001), Original Sin (2001), and The Crime of Padre Amaro (2002). Back in Mexico, he finally received greater recognition for his acting with starring roles in the acclaimed films La Ley de Herodes (2000) and Su Alteza Serenisma (2001).Interestingly, Hollywood grew more interested in casting him in positions of power toward the end of his life, as he he played authority figures in such diverse films as Robert Rodriguez's Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003), the Will Ferrell comedy Casa de mi Padre (2012), and The Mask of Zorro (1998) and its sequel The Legend of Zorro (2005). Armendáriz died of eye cancer on December 26, 2011.
