Competed in track and basketball in high school. Played in the FIFA U-19 Women's World Cup in Thailand in 2004. Was voted WCC Player of the Year during her senior year in college. Made her debut for the U.S. women's senior national team in 2006, in a match against Ireland. Missed the 2008 Olympic Games due to a torn ACL. Received a gold medal as part of the U.S. National team at the Olympic Games in London in 2012. Became the first person, male or female, to score a goal from a corner kick (known as an "Olympic goal") at an Olympics, when she did so in the semifinal match in 2012. Was part of the U.S. national team at the 2016 Olympics in Rio that was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Sweden.
