Birthplace: Nasrali, Khanna, Punjab Province, British India
Trivia: Made his acting debut in Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere (1960). Set up the production company Vijayta Films in 1983. It's first release was Betaab(1983), which starred his son Sunny Deol. As producer he received the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and the Filmfare Award for Best Movie for Ghayal (1990). Received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997. In 2011 he was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Ratna Award, India's highest cinematic award. Was honoured with India's third highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan, in 2012.

Trivia: Starred alongside future husband Dharmendra in several films in her early career. Appeared in over 150 films in a career spanning over four decades. Presented with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000. Received the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award, in 2000. Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, which she represented in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament of India, from 2003 until 2009.

Trivia: Appeared in over 350 films. Trained as a photographer before being introduced to acting through a chance encounter with a screenwriter. Awarded the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997. The Indian government awarded him the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award, in 2001, and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest award in cinema, in 2013. Acted alongside life-long friend Ashok Kumar in 27 films.

Trivia: Hindi actor Raaj Kumar's best-known performance to Western audiences is his work in Mother India (1957). In his own country, he was popular from the '50s through the early '70s. Born Kulbhushan Pandit in a part of what is now Pakistan, Kumar made had his first starring role in films in 1952 with Merry Woman. His subsequent film credits include Neel Kamal/The Blue Lotus (1968) and Pakeezah/The Pure One (1971).

Trivia: Started his career in radio, where he gained widespread popularity as a host. Debuted in Railway Platform (1955) and rose to fame through his appearance in Mother India (1957). Was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award, in 1968. Became the sheriff of Mumbai in 1981. Launched his son Sanjay's career with Rocky (1981). Founded the Nargis Dutt Foundation in memory of his wife in 1981, which supports cancer research. Went to Japan in 1988 to appeal for global disarmament and to protest for the same, he walked from Nagasaki to Hiroshima. Won the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996. Was Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports in the Indian government from 2004 until his death in 2005.
