This documentary brings to the surface how women rise above the odds, namely poverty and societal inequities, to help uplift fellow women and, in turn, uplift their impoverished communities. The story follows three women's journeys on the road to self-emancipation. In Peru, Gladys jumpstarted a small market; in Sri Lanka, Selyna's mother built a textile company, and now she's trying to expand her mother's business; Magatte from Senegal focuses on manufacturing cosmetics.
