Trivia: Worked as stage actor, most notably at the Indian National Theatre, before turning to cinema. Won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performances in Sastak (1970) and Koshish (1972). Two-time winner of the Filmfare Best Actor Award, out of a total of eleven nominations. A stamp bearing his face was issued by India Post in 2013. As many people in his family, he suffered from a heart condition, which would eventually prove fatal.

Trivia: During the '70s and '80s, Shashi Kapoor was one of the most popular movie stars in India. The brother of beloved comedian Raj Kapoor and the youngest son of famed director Prithviraj Kapoor, Shashi is best known internationally for his appearances in Merchant-Ivory productions such as Shakespeare Wallah (1965) and Heat and Dust (1982). All told, Kapoor has worked on over 200 films internationally and in India. He was married to the late Jennifer Kendal, an actress whose parents, Geoffrey and Laura, headed the contemporary British theater troupe Shakespeareana. In 1978, Kapoor and his wife, who shared a longtime love of theater, fulfilled a longtime dream of his late father, whose troupe -- Kapoor once acted with the Hindi theater company, established by his father in 1944 -- eventually joined with the Kendal troupe to form the Prithvi Theatre. This served to build a special center to promote India's performing arts by establishing the Shri Prithviraj Kapoor Memorial Trust and building the Privithi Theatre in Bombay. It has since become one of the country's centers of cultural arts. It is also is home to the Prithvi Festival, the most important film festival in India.

Trivia: Was the only daughter of her parents and was taken care of by her maternal grandparents following her mother's death on the day of her birth. Was the daughter of Rana Pratap Singh who produced two films – Vidya and Jeet, both starring Dev Anand and Suraiya, in 1948. Was the granddaughter of Mohan Sinha – a producer and director – who directed about 32 films. Won the title Miss Bombay in 1968 and modelled for several top brands. Signed her first film Raja Kaka (1974) although it was released after Rajnigandha (1974). Made her debut in the role of a young woman torn between two loves in Basu Chatterjee's film Rajnigandha (1974). Was paid 10,000 Indian Rupees for her first film Rajnigandha, whose budget was about Rs. 200,000. Fell in love and married her Tamilian Brahmin neighbour Venkateshwar Iyer in 1976 when she had barely acted in a couple of films. Had rejected an offer to act in the film Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978) for being uncomfortable with the costumes. Having acted in 30 films, she quit acting indefinitely in 1982 to take care of her adopted daughter Jhanvi. Produced television serials for Doordarshan, Singhasan Battisi and Darrar. Produced two films, one in Marathi called Bijli (1986) and the other in Gujarati, Jeevi Rabaran. Made her acting debut in television for the serial Tamanaa, directed by Ravi Rai. Is a Guest Faculty at the Indian Academy of Dramatic Arts (IADA) Acting School, New Delhi, India. Married Netaji Bhimrao Salunkhe after befriending him over the internet in 2001. Divorced her second husband Netaji Bhimrao Salunkhe during 2011.

Trivia: Was fond of mimicry and imitated people around as a young child. Studied in Bhave School in Pune that boasts of an alumnus of celebrities such as Smita Patil, Rohini Hattangadi and Sonali Kulkarni. Became the founder of the Progressive Dramatic Association (PDA) in 1951. Visited England and Canada for higher studies. Specialised in ENT and practised medicine for six years and switched career at the age of 42 to become a full-fledged actor. Fell in love with Deepa during the play Aadhe Aadhure, and married her after its making. Made his acting debut in the film Ek Ajeeb Kahani (1971) and on TV for the serial Thhoda Sa Aasman (1995). Appeared alongside Hollywood actor Ben Kingsley in the feature film Gandhi (1982). Lost his son Tanveer prematurely in 1994 after a miscreant flung a stone into the Pune-Mumbai train, killing him. Announced an award called "Tanveer Sanman" in the memory of his late son Tanveer who expired in an accident. Had fasted for three days in social activist Anna Hazare's 10-day hunger protest to fight corruption in India.
