Trivia: Born and raised in Ohio, actress Patricia Heaton got her start on the stage, performing with the off-Broadway company Stage Three. In 1989, she got her screen-acting big break when she was cast in a recurring role on ABC's thirtysomething. Over the next several years, she could be seen in a number of failed sitcoms, small TV guest roles, and bit film parts. But in 1996, Heaton landed the role that would make her career, that of long-suffering matriarch Debra Barone on the hit CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond. Trivia: Comedic actor Neil Flynn cut his teeth with the renowned improv companies Second City and ImprovOlympic, the latter of which saw him study under the late improv guru Del Close. Despite his comedy-oriented aspirations, though, Flynn spent much of his early career taking bit parts in films like The Fugitive and Magnolia and on TV shows such as Doogie Howser, M.D. and Chicago Hope, often playing a cop. But in 2001, things took a decidedly positive turn when he was cast as the nameless Janitor on NBC's Scrubs, a role that was intended only for the pilot but was expanded to a regular series character in light of Flynn's performance. Trivia: Actor Charlie McDermott got an early start to his career, snagging his first film role in 2004's thriller The Village when he was just 14. Trivia: A former dancer and New York theater star, Marsha Mason never quite reached the heights of stardom suggested by her early film career. Still she remains a respected supporting and occasional leading Hollywood actress and has four Oscar nominations to prove it. In film, Mason started out playing bit parts. She also appeared on television in such series as Dr. Kildare. She had her first substantial film role in Hot Rod Hulaballoo (1966). Her first big break came after she traveled to San Francisco to appear in an American Conservatory Theater production of Private Lives directed by Francis Ford Coppola. While on the West Coast she played a supporting role in Paul Mazursky's Blume in Love (1973). It was her stage work, however, that led filmmaker Mark Rydell to cast her as a pregnant single mother who prostitutes herself in Seattle in Cinderella Liberty (1973). She beat out Barbra Streisand, the studio's choice, for the role and won her first Academy Award nomination. Her second nomination came from her portrayal of a divorced chorine trying to support herself and her daughter while dealing with a series of failed romances in Neil Simon's comedy-drama The Goodbye Girl (1977). She and Simon were married at the time and the famed playwright wrote the part especially for her. Mason's co-star, Richard Dreyfuss, won a Best Actor Oscar. Simon wrote the screenplay for the film responsible for Mason's third Oscar nomination, Chapter Two (1979), which was an autobiographical account of their courtship. He also penned the part that landed her a fourth nomination, Only When I Laugh (1981). Through the '80s, Mason seemed to concentrate more on television movies, such as Love Canal (1982) and Surviving (1985), and her feature-film appearances became sporadic. Becoming involved with the SNL breeding ground comedy troupe the Groundlings after college, the aspiring comic refined his comic skills until the legendary late-night comedy staple came calling. Joining the SNL cast in March of 1996 as a featured player, Kattan soon earned his keep with his hyper and sassy delivery consistently drawing laughs while combined with his outlandish characterizations. Kattan has also appeared in such popular television shows as Grace Under Fire and NewsRadio in addition to translating his head-bobbing Doug Butabi character (alongside Will Ferrell) to the big screen in 1998's Roxbury. 2001 found Kattan hitting the big screen again with Corky Romano.In the decades to come, Kataan would appear in a number of projects, like Santa's Slay and Scout's Honor. He would memorably play a fictional version of himself in the series AllaKattan!, but found even more success with the comedy series The Middle.

Trivia: American actor/writer Brian Doyle-Murray began his professional performing career at Chicago's Second City comedy troupe. Once established, Brian was instrumental in bringing his younger brother Bill into Second City. While Bill Murray's star ascended, Brian stayed busy as a writer and comic character actor. He co-wrote the 1980 comedy hit Caddyshack and had choice supporting roles in such films as Modern Problems (1981), Club Paradise (1986) and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989). Brian has also appeared to excellent effect in several of his brother Bill's starring features, most recently in the hilarious role of the lugubrious mayor of Punxsutawney in Groundhog Day (1993). One of the staff writers of the earliest years of Saturday Night Live, Brian Doyle-Murray has remained active on television as a guest actor, as a regular on the 1991 sitcom Good Sports, and in such made for TV movies as Babe Ruth (1991).
