John Cena (Actor)
Born: April 23, 1977
Birthplace: Newbury, Massachusetts, United States
Trivia: A celebrated professional wrestler who made a smooth transition to Hollywood roles as an action star, John Cena ironically grew up as something of a weakling; he reportedly weighed only 125 pounds in junior high. When others began relentlessly picking on the West Newbury, MA native for his undersized appearance, he rebounded by undergoing a weight-training program and bulking up. Cena later played collegiate football as an All-American center at Division III Springfield College, and moved to Los Angeles after graduation to establish himself as a bodybuilder. To support himself, he sold supplements at the "mecca" of bodybuilding, Gold's Gym in Venice; participated in flexing contests; and briefly starred in a reality television series on the UPN network, Manhunt.WWE recruited Cena when one of its stars happened to notice him training at Gold's; Cena then embarked on a successful and lucrative career as a top-tiered professional wrestler, winning a myriad of events against various competitors, and his wrestling career peaked when he won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 21. Cena's assumed identity as a wrestler often involved donning a "rapper" persona, which correlated with the performer's out-of-ring plans, for he did actually harbor ambitions as a rap singer. In time, he made his debut as an urban music recording artist on the May 2005 Columbia Records release You Can't See Me. Cena would continue to act in movies over the coming years, appearing in releases like The Reunion and Camp Fred.Cena's Hollywood acting work commenced with the title role in director John Bonito's poorly received action thriller The Marine (2006). The film concerns an injured U.S. marine who takes vengeance into his own hands when his wife is kidnapped by a thug (Robert Patrick). Cena followed this up with another lead, this one in director Renny Harlin's 12 Rounds (2009). As produced by Fox Atomic, the film mirrored the premise of The Marine; it stars Cena as a police officer who takes serious action when his wife is abducted.
Ashley Scott (Actor) .. Molly
Born: July 13, 1977
Birthplace: Metairie, Louisana, United States
Trivia: Sporting a Louisiana drawl and an all-American look, Ashley Scott took a fantastic gamble in the early '90s: at only 15 years old, she dropped out of secondary school, high-tailed it to New York, and roomed with several friends while seeking work on the side as a fashion model on the catalogue circuit. The risk paid off when Scott did indeed land a contract with a prestigious agency. Around seven years later, the up-and-coming superstar moved to the City of Angels and transitioned, seemingly without effort, to film roles. She debuted cinematically with a bit part in Steven Spielberg's well-received fantasy A.I.: Artificial Intelligence, and the exposure generated by that turn led to a regular role as Asha Copeland during the second season of the James Cameron-produced action series Dark Angel. When that show was canceled at the end of the season, Scott bounced back with another regular TV role, that of Helena Kyle (aka the Huntress) on the WB superhero series Birds of Prey (2002), but that series also folded rather quickly. Scott returned to films in 2003, and -- perhaps typecast for a brief period of time thanks to her Dark Angel/Birds of Prey work -- contented herself with a number of big-screen action and adventure roles in A-list features. These included S.W.A.T. (2003), Lost (2004), Walking Tall (2004), and Into the Blue (2005). In the process, Scott -- per the standard Hollywood progression -- ascended gradually to higher and higher billing. Back on the small screen, Scott took on a regular role on the cult series Jericho as Emily Sullivan. In 2007, she appeared in a small part in the action thriller The Kingdom. The next year, Scott began to stray from familiar genres with the adventure comedy Strange Wilderness, directed by Fred Wolf. As produced by Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions, the picture concerns a couple of animal nuts from a wildlife TV series who attempt to boost the show's ratings by journeying into exotic regions to find Bigfoot.
Aidan Gillen (Actor) .. Miles
Born: April 24, 1968
Birthplace: Drumcondra, Dublin, Ireland
Trivia: The embodiment of the line "when Irish eyes are smiling, they're up to something bad," Aidan Gillen oozed ruthless charisma and wicked sex appeal in his role as the sexually prolific Stuart Alan Jones in the 1999 British TV series Queer As Folk. Bringing wry humor and understatement to a potentially over-the-top role, Gillen earned a reputation as one of the U.K.'s most compulsively watchable new performers.Born in Dublin, Gillen got his professional start in the late '80s, appearing in minor film roles. He worked steadily through the 1990s, in film and on television, popping up in such diverse offerings as Circle of Friends (1995), Some Mother's Son (1996), and Jez Butterworth's Mojo (1997). His major breakthrough role was inarguably that of Queer As Folk's Stuart, an arrogant, vain, and thoroughly sexy PR executive who strips countless men of both their clothing and resistance. The success of the controversial miniseries ensured that it -- and its talented actors -- would be back for a second go-round, which followed in 2000. That same year, Gillen found accompanying acclaim on the big screen, in Jamie Thraves' acclaimed directorial debut The Low Down, in which he starred as an amiable but frustrated commercial artist whose life changes when he meets a radiant, ambitious woman. He appeared in both My Kingdom and Lorna Doone, as well as the action comedy Shanghai Knights before joining the cast of the revered HBO series The Wire in that show's third season. When his time on that program came to a close he was in the action film 12 Rounds, and then was cast in the series Identity.
Brian J. White (Actor) .. Hank
Born: April 21, 1975
Birthplace: Boston, Massachusetts, United States
Trivia: Actor Brian J. White eked out an unusual path to showbusiness. A Massachusetts native and the son of Boston Celtics player JoJo White, Brian attended the Ivy League Dartmouth College, majoring in poly sci, theater arts, and psychology, but his athletic prowess yielded two offers to go professional: one with the NFL and another with the National Lacrosse League. White opted for the NFL, and signed with the New England Patriots, but a sporting injury derailed his career and found him forking off into professional modeling, and then acting. Within the latter arena, White began to specialize in onscreen portrayals of intelligent, polished, and urbane men. The actor took his earliest screen bow with a lead role: that of Tracy Wainwright, a young executive who strikes up an ill-advised affair with his boss, only to find his career jeopardized when he falls in love with another woman, in the 2001 workplace drama Me & Mrs. Jones. Unfortunately for White and his co-stars, that film failed to achieve wide theatrical release in the United States (despite touring the festival circuit), but the actor achieved greater recognition with a multi-episode role on the small-screen police drama The Shield (as Detective Tavon Garris) and supporting turns in the features Mr. 3000 (2004), The Family Stone (2005), and Stomp the Yard (2007). He returned to the small screen in fall 2007, playing Lieutenant Carl Davis in a recurring role on the vampire detective series Moonlight.
Taylor Cole (Actor) .. Erica
Born: April 29, 1984
Birthplace: Arlington, Texas, United States
Trivia: Raised by her dad. Took up golf when she was 9. Played on her high school's volleyball team and with the Junior Olympics volleyball squad, but had to stop after tearing her ACL during her senior year. Began modeling while in high school. Appeared in commercials for Crest and Old Spice, as well as music videos for Ryan Cabrera's "True" and Papa Roach's "Scars." On a lark, auditioned for several roles while in L.A. visiting her mother; became a series regular on Summerland after guest starring in the pilot. Acted alongside her real-life stepfather, Shawn Christian, on Summerland. Enjoys volleyball, tae kwon do, golf and surfing.
Steve Harris (Actor) .. Aiken
Born: December 03, 1965
Birthplace: Chicago, Illinois, United States
Trivia: With his bald pate and imposing frame -- the press once listed him as 6' tall and 215 pounds -- actor Steve Harris found it relatively easy to usher in a threatening and dominating screen presence when necessary, so it was scarcely surprising that he often found himself cast as heavies on both sides of the law in films such as Street Hunter (1990), The Mod Squad (1999), and The Skulls. Harris escaped from the confines of that typecast, however (and netted a substantial amount of critical attention) with two roles: that of mythical heavyweight Sonny Liston in the 2000 telemovie Muhammad Ali: King of the World, directed by John Sacret Young, and that of defense attorney Eugene Young on the ABC legal drama series The Practice (beginning in 1997). The smashing success of that program opened up many doors for the actor, including roles in Steven Spielberg's sci-fi thriller Minority Report (2002) and the urban seriocomedy Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman (2005). With the grisly horror outing Quarantine (2008) and the Renny Harlin-directed actioner 12 Rounds (2009), it seemed that Harris' career had come full circle. He would go on to appear on shows like Friday Nights and Awake.A native of the Chicago suburb of Westchester, IL, Harris grew up as the son of a homemaker and a bus driver. He initially embarked on a promising football career, with the position of linebacker at Northern Illinois University, but torn ligaments in his ankles made it impossible for him to continue, and he instead hearkened off to the stage, establishing his dramatic roots behind the footlights with roles in regional productions of Julius Caesar and Macbeth.
Gonzalo Menendez (Actor)
Born: November 08, 1971
Nick Gomez (Actor)
Born: October 02, 1978
Trivia: It's doubtful there are many directors who have excelled at the sort of gritty, urban realism imbued in the films of Nick Gomez -- and even if they did, the performances they showcased and the moods they set aren't likely to have been nearly as effective. From the streets of New Jersey to the halls of inner-city law enforcement and the cold reality of prison, Gomez's unmistakable flair for the rougher side of life found him dabbling in television with episodes of such small-screen hits as The Sopranos, OZ, The Shield, and Homicide: Life on the Street. A native of Somerville, MA, who received his film education in the esteemed SUNY Purchase film program, Gomez did editing work in 1990 on the Hal Hartley films The Unbelievable Truth and Trust. The aspiring filmmaker had his own vision, however, and made his feature debut the next year with Laws of Gravity. Subsequently helming a handful of Homicide episodes, Gomez returned to features with the 1995 crime drama New Jersey Drive. Though his 1996 follow-up Illtown didn't gain him quite the exposure of his earlier efforts, Gomez expanded his directing experience with frequent television work. In 2000, he inexplicably turned to comedy with the quickly forgotten Drowning Mona, and two years later returned to the small screen with work on The Shield and Robbery Homicide Division. Gomez directed an episode of Keen Eddie in 2003.
