Joined actress Agot Isidro to speak out against death penalty on World Day Against Death Penalty on October 10, 2016. Is co-owner of Alab, a Filipino restaurant chain which she plans to expand.

Won the PMPC Star Best Actor Award for Television for his role in a mini series Maalaala Mo Kaya in 2000, 2002, 2005, and 2006. Bagged the PMPC Star Best Movie Actor Award for his movie Banal (2008). His singing talent was well-received by the audience after he released a video singing Sam Smith's "I'm Not the Only One" along with comedian Rodfil in 2015.

Reunited with Bata Bata director Chito Roño after 14 years for the Metro Manila Film Festival entry Shake Rattle and Roll XIV (2012). Won the Best Actor Award at the Cinemanila International Film Festival for Carnivore (2008).
