Trivia: Noted for an extensive career spanning 66 years and 200 songs (translated into 27 languages), Mexican folk singer, composer, and actor Jose del Refugio "Cuco" Sanchez may be gone, but his mark on the entertainment industry will not soon be forgotten. Born in the Mexican town of Altamira, Sanchez recorded his first song at the tender age of 13, and six years later, was signed by Mexico's largest media company. Spawning numerous hits, and composing music for several movies in which he also acted, Sanchez remained a popular actor of film and television, as well as a hit songwriter. On October 5, 2000, Cuco Sanchez died of liver failure at a Mexico City hospital. He was 79.
