Started rapping at 9 years old. At age 16, his mom took him to get his first tattoo. Stage name originated from his nickname Wiz, short for wisdom and his Muslim grandfather added Khalifa which means"successor" in Arabic. Founded Taylor Gang records, an independent record label. His first number one single, "Black and Yellow," refers to the city colors of Pittsburgh. Named Rookie of the Year by Source Magazine and was featured on the December 2010 cover. Pittsburgh City Council declared December 12, 2012 Whiz Khalifa day in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Donated 1,700 back packs to students at his alma mater, Taylor Allerdice High School and other district students in September 2015. His 2015 single, with Charlie Puth, "See You Again" was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 list for 12 non-consecutive weeks.
