Tom Selleck (Actor) .. Thomas Sullivan Magnum
Born: January 29, 1945
Birthplace: Detroit, Michigan, United States
Trivia: Leading man and sex symbol, Selleck has a gentle, humorous manner. He attended college on an athletic scholarship, majoring in business. A drama coach suggested he become an actor; soon he began making the rounds of auditions. He won a part in the disastrous film Myra Breckinridge (1970), his screen debut, then appeared in small roles in a handful of films during the '70s. Meanwhile, Selleck was signed to a seven-year contract with Fox, leading to a great many TV roles, including appearances as a recurring character on the TV series "The Rockford Files." Eventually he was chosen as the lead for the TV series "Magnum P.I.;" the show became a hit, staying on the air from 1980-88, and he became a star and sex symbol, winning an Emmy, a Golden Globe award, and a star on Hollywood Boulevard. He suffered a serious career setback in 1981, when he was chosen to star in the Lucas-Spielberg blockbuster Raiders of the Lost Ark, but couldn't get released from his TV responsibilities. Beginning in 1983 he tried to break back into films, finally landing a major hit in a co-starring role in Three Men and a Baby (1987); although he appeared in a dozen films after 1983 he never firmly established himself as a screen star. He has also been active as a TV producer. He is married to English dancer Jillie Mack.
John Hillerman (Actor) .. Jonathan Quayle Higgins III
Born: December 20, 1932
Birthplace: Denison, Texas
Trivia: Natty, mellifluous character actor John Hillerman may have spoken on screen with a pure Mayfair accent, but he hailed from Denison, Texas. Hillerman first gained notice for his fleeting appearances in the films of Peter Bogdanovich: The Last Picture Show (1971), What's Up Doc (1973), At Long Last Love (1975). He was also a semi-regular for director Mel Brooks, prominently cast in Blazing Saddles (1975) and History of the World, Part I (1981). A veteran of dozens of television series, John Hillerman was cast as the insufferable criminologist Simon Brimmer on Ellery Queen (1975), the star's director (and ex-husband) in The Betty White Show (1975), and most memorably as the ultra-correct Jonathan Quayle Higgins II, major domo to never-seen mystery writer Robin Masters, on Magnum PI (1980-88).
Roger E. Mosley (Actor) .. Theodore `T.C.' Calvin
Larry Manetti (Actor) .. Orville `Rick' Wright
Born: July 23, 1947
Birthplace: Chicago, Illinois
Lee Purcell (Actor) .. Goldie Morris
Born: June 15, 1947
Trivia: American actress Lee Purcell received her first movie break in 1970's Adam at 6 AM, portraying Jerri Jo Hopper, the young vis-a-vis of liberal college professor Michael Douglas. Most of her later film roles were secondary but sizeable (see Kid Blue [1973] and Mr. Majestyk [1974], both dominated by their male stars). Ms. Purcell was better served on television, where she appeared in such roles as silent film starlet Billie Dove in the 2-part The Amazing Howard Hughes (1976). In the same vein, Lee Purcell played '40s movie actress Olivia de Havilland in the 1985 biopic My Wicked, Wicked Ways: The Legend of Errol Flynn.
Brock Peters (Actor) .. Präsident Kole
Born: July 02, 1927
Died: August 23, 2005
Trivia: African American actor Brock Peters was a stage performer as early as 1943, long before he was old enough to attend CCNY. Peters made his film bow as Sgt. Brown in Otto Preminger's Carmen Jones (1954). Five years later, he appeared in another Preminger-directed musical film, playing the menacing Crown in Porgy and Bess (1959); coincidentally, he'd made his earliest stage appearance in that same Gershwin opera. Specializing in roles of unquestioned authority, Peters was at home with the villainous Rodriguez in The Pawnbroker (1965) as he was with the kindly Reverend Kumalko in Lost in the Stars (1974). Conversely, one of Peters' most impressive screen performances was as a victim; in 1962's To Kill a Mockingbird, he played accused rapist Tom Robinson. His more recent movie assignments have included Admiral Cartwright in two of the Star Trek theatrical features (numbers IV and VI), and a brace of roles previously associated with white actors: reclusive Mr. Pendergast in Polly, the 1988 musical adaptation of Pollyanna, and the fatuous Reverend Chasuble in the all-black 1992 remake of The Importance of Being Earnest. Peters also produced the 1973 film Five on the Black Hand Side, and has from time to time pursued a nightclub singing career. On television, Peters was briefly a regular on the daytime drama Young and the Restless, and supplied the voice of Lucius Fox on 1992's Batman: The Animated Series. The recipient of numerous industry awards and honors, Brock Peters was inducted into the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame in 1976.
Keone Young (Actor) .. Makini
Born: September 06, 1947
Lee De Broux (Actor) .. Rodney Radcliff
Born: May 07, 1941
Trivia: A character actor, Lee DeBroux first appeared onscreen in the late '60s; he often plays rustics.
Art Kimbro (Actor) .. Lieutenant Kimbro
Born: May 11, 1956
Hari Rhodes (Actor) .. Seko Rwanda
Born: April 10, 1932
Died: January 15, 1992
Fred Lerner (Actor) .. Smith
Born: February 02, 1935
Trivia: Stunt man, stunt coordinator, second unit director, and actor, onscreen from the '80s.
Michael W. Perry (Actor) .. Reporter #1
Leslie Wilcox (Actor) .. Reporter #2
Hari (Harry) Rhodes (Actor) .. Mr. Wanda
Born: April 10, 1932
Died: January 14, 1992
Trivia: African-American actor Hari Rhodes first came to the widespread attention of televiewers with his portrayal of African native Mike on the TV series Daktari. Though he seldom had as much to do as series star Marshall Thompson, Rhodes developed a fan following during his three-year (1966-69) run with the program. Subsequent TV jobs included such roles as DA William Washburn on the 1969 law-and-order weekly The Protectors; Los Angeles mayor Dan Stoddard on the 1976 cop series Most Wanted; Brima Cesay on the landmark 1977 miniseries Roots; and Presidential retainer Coates on the 1979 "docudrama" Backstairs at the White House. Hari Rhodes died in January of 1992, a few months before the premiere of his final project, the made-for-TV feature Murder without Motive: The Edmund Perry Story.
