Trivia: A football star at Eastern Kentucky State College, Lee Majors came to Los Angeles armed with a physical education degree and possessed with a vague desire to break into films. He worked as a park recreation director for the City of Los Angeles before entering show business in 1963. Majors was promoted as "the New James Dean," though he personally aspired to become a new Steve McQueen or Paul Newman (he also retained his permit to work as a recreation director, just in case the world wasn't holding its breath for a new Dean, McQueen or Newman). Majors achieved stardom on his own merits in a variety of television series, the most recent of which was 1992's Raven. His best-known TV roles included Heath Barkley on The Big Valley (1965-69), bionic Steve Austin on The Six Million Dollar Man (1973-78) and stunt man Colt Seavers on The Fall Guy (1981-86). In addition, he has headlined a number of made-for-TV movies, essaying the old Gary Cooper part in the 1991 sequel to High Noon and portraying U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers in a 1976 biopic. Majors would continue to act in the decades to come, memorably appearing in Big Fat Liar and on The Game. For several years, Lee Majors was married to actress Farrah Fawcett.

Trivia: After her eye-catching debut as Nurse Dish in the 1970 film version of MASH, American leading lady Jo Ann Pflug remained on call for sexy, come-hither roles. Pflug spent the bulk of her career on television, playing regular roles on Operation Petticoat (1978-79, as Lieutenant Katherine O'Hara) and The Fall Guy (1981-82 as "Big Jack"). She also played Nora Charles in an abortive mid-1970s attempt to revive The Thin Man as a weekly series. While starring as Taylor von Platen on the syndicated soap opera Rituals (1984), Jo Ann Pflug became a born-again Christian; rebelling against the prurient content of Rituals, Pflug quit the program, thereafter devoting herself to religious radio and television projects.

Trivia: Alternately tagged as a novelty act and as Honolulu's answer to Dean Martin, the baritone lounge vocalist Don Ho was best known for his signature tune, "Tiny Bubbles," and for his trademark raspberry-colored sunglasses. The Kakaako-born chanteur signed with Sinatra's label, Reprise, in the early '60s, which issued his first album, The Don Ho Show, in 1965. Ho landed a massive hit with "Tiny Bubbles" in the fall of 1966, and issued a handful of albums in the ensuing years, but after 1969, Ho's record sales plummeted. To keep himself afloat as an entertainer, he not only became a club staple in his native Hawaii, but branched out into occasional film and television roles. These included guest appearances on such series programs as The Fall Guy, Charlie's Angels, Sanford and Son, The Brady Bunch, and I Dream of Jeannie (where the entertainer seemed particularly at home in the beach-laden setting of Cape Canaveral). Circa 1996, Ho signed for one of his only feature film roles: that of Alberto Bianco, a vile landlord who oversees several dilapidated tenements, in the MTV-produced, FX-laden picture Joe's Apartment. (The film's detractors decried the producers' decision to pass up an onscreen number by Ho and bequeath the singing roles to 5,000 cockroaches instead.) Several years after participating in the documentary Waikiki, in the Wake of Dreams, Ho died of heart failure in Honolulu. He was 76.

Trivia: A longtime character actor who uniquely parlayed his job as a newspaper delivery man into a successful acting career, Dennis Fimple never failed to end his daily route by dropping a free newspaper and headshot at the office of General Services Studios' casting director. The gamble paid off, and the casting director eventually offered young Fimple a series of small roles in Petticoat Junction. Born to an electrician and beautician in Ventura, CA, and raised in nearby Taft, the aspiring young actor decided to pursue a career on stage and screen after portraying Tom Sawyer in a junior high school play. Enchanted with his ability to goof off on-stage without getting into trouble, Fimple would eventually earn a scholarship to San Jose State and major in speech and drama in addition to earning his teaching credential. Residing in the San Francisco Bay area and working in a Cheetos factory by day, the nighttime found the tireless Fimple appearing in dinner theaters. Realizing that in order to make it, a relocation was in order, Fimple packed his bags for Hollywood with initially discouraging results. A teacher by day and newspaper delivery man by night, Fimple would follow appearances in Petticoat Junction with roles in such popular small-screen series as Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. and Here Come the Brides. Roles in such features as Cactus in the Snow (1970) and Truck Stop Women (1974) followed shortly thereafter, and appearances in the following year's The Apple Dumpling Gang and the remake of King Kong (1976) found the rugged-looking actor's face gaining increasing exposure. Often cast as rough-and-tumble rural folk, Fimple remained a staple of television and film well into the new millennium. Following his final appearance in horror-rocker Rob Zombie's throwback fright-fest House of 1000 Corpses, Fimple died of natural causes at his Frazier Park, CA, home. He was 61.

Trivia: Emigrated from China to the U.S. at the age of 7 and settled with his family in Houston. Graduated from college with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Was a member of the Marine Corps Reserve. Performed in many stage productions with the renowned East-West Players since 1972, during which time he won several Drama-Logue awards. Played the role of George in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? opposite Nancy Kwan at the Singapore Repertory Theatre in 1994. Won the Award of Excellence at the Big Bear Lake International Film Festival in 2002. Honored by the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California in 2006.
