Tom Selleck (Actor) .. Thomas Sullivan Magnum
Born: January 29, 1945
Birthplace: Detroit, Michigan, United States
Trivia: Leading man and sex symbol, Selleck has a gentle, humorous manner. He attended college on an athletic scholarship, majoring in business. A drama coach suggested he become an actor; soon he began making the rounds of auditions. He won a part in the disastrous film Myra Breckinridge (1970), his screen debut, then appeared in small roles in a handful of films during the '70s. Meanwhile, Selleck was signed to a seven-year contract with Fox, leading to a great many TV roles, including appearances as a recurring character on the TV series "The Rockford Files." Eventually he was chosen as the lead for the TV series "Magnum P.I.;" the show became a hit, staying on the air from 1980-88, and he became a star and sex symbol, winning an Emmy, a Golden Globe award, and a star on Hollywood Boulevard. He suffered a serious career setback in 1981, when he was chosen to star in the Lucas-Spielberg blockbuster Raiders of the Lost Ark, but couldn't get released from his TV responsibilities. Beginning in 1983 he tried to break back into films, finally landing a major hit in a co-starring role in Three Men and a Baby (1987); although he appeared in a dozen films after 1983 he never firmly established himself as a screen star. He has also been active as a TV producer. He is married to English dancer Jillie Mack.
John Hillerman (Actor) .. Jonathan Quayle Higgins III
Born: December 20, 1932
Birthplace: Denison, Texas
Trivia: Natty, mellifluous character actor John Hillerman may have spoken on screen with a pure Mayfair accent, but he hailed from Denison, Texas. Hillerman first gained notice for his fleeting appearances in the films of Peter Bogdanovich: The Last Picture Show (1971), What's Up Doc (1973), At Long Last Love (1975). He was also a semi-regular for director Mel Brooks, prominently cast in Blazing Saddles (1975) and History of the World, Part I (1981). A veteran of dozens of television series, John Hillerman was cast as the insufferable criminologist Simon Brimmer on Ellery Queen (1975), the star's director (and ex-husband) in The Betty White Show (1975), and most memorably as the ultra-correct Jonathan Quayle Higgins II, major domo to never-seen mystery writer Robin Masters, on Magnum PI (1980-88).

At first he served in the Royal Artillery but then transferred to the Army Physical Training Corps and went to Korea. An accomplished gymnast, he represented the Army on the parallel and horizontal bars in 1952. Later that year De Vere Austin made his U.S. feature film debut as a stunt man/bit player in Spartacus. He also appeared in a few television episodes of such action shows as Highway Patrol, Peter Gunn, and Have Gun Will Travel. Following his return to England, he was appointed stunt director for Cleopatra and also worked as a second unit director/stunt coordinator on the Rome location. De Vere Austin continued working as a stunt director and actor in several more films, including The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, in which he played Mr. Clay. In the late '60s, he began writing teleplays and directing episodes for The Saint and The Avengers. He also worked on other distinguished television shows including The Prisoner and Black Beauty. In 1970, De Vere Austin was named Outstanding Producer/Director and Writer of the Year by the London Film Festival for the short, The Perfumed Garden. He won the same award the following year for another short-film, The Sandal, which also earned him honors at that year's Cannes Film Festival. Shows he worked on include Hawaii 5-0, Magnum P.I., The Fall Guy, and Simon and Simon. Harry Endo (Actor) .. Mr. Matsuda
Died: January 09, 2009
Trivia: Though a Colorado native, actor Harry Endo spent the majority of his life in and around Hawaii, and initially worked as a banker. His first encounter with show business seemed to come out of the blue: while doing a commercial for his bank in the late '60s, he was approached by a CBS producer to sign for a role on the network's then-nascent police drama Hawaii Five-O, opposite stars Jack Lord, James MacArthur, Richard Denning, and others. Endo promptly agreed and remained with the series from 1970 through 1977; he played Che Fong, the program's resident forensics expert. Following his departure from Hawaii, he turned up as a series of different characters on occasional episodes of Magnum, P.I. (an unofficial spin-off of the earlier program, set in the same locale and using the same sets) opposite Tom Selleck and John Hillerman. A WWII veteran who served in Europe as a radio operator with an infantry unit, Endo was married to the same woman for over 60 years. He died of a stroke at age 87 in January 2009.
