On TV Tonight is committed to making our website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification and other assistive technologies.

Our current goal is to improve the website in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. Accessibility is part of our ongoing design and development work, not a one-time project.

We are reviewing important journeys and updating older areas of the website as our pages and services evolve.

Use established guidance

WCAG 2.2 Level AA provides the benchmark for the accessibility work we are undertaking.

Following feedback from our screen-reader users, we updated the new TV guide so its visual schedule also provides a meaningful table-style structure to assistive technology.

Rows and columns Channels are identified as row headings and times as column headings, making the schedule easier to explore in a familiar structure.
More informative program links Program links provide the full title, start time, channel and useful details such as New, Movie, Sport, On now or Favorite when applicable.
Skip to TV listings Keyboard and screen-reader users can move directly past the guide controls to the schedule.
Keyboard focus Visible focus indicators help keyboard users understand where they are on the page.

These changes were checked by the user who raised the original concern, who confirmed that the updated schedule worked well with their screen-reading software.

Our current position

We have not yet completed an independent accessibility audit of every page and are not making a formal site-wide WCAG conformance claim at this stage. We are publishing this statement to be clear about the work completed so far and the improvements still ahead.

Keyboard operation and visible focus
Page headings, landmarks and link descriptions
Text readability, resizing and color contrast
Forms, messages and dynamically updated content

Known limitations

Some older pages may not yet provide the same accessibility as recently updated pages.
Third-party advertising and embedded services may include elements that are outside our direct control.
Other barriers may exist that we have not yet identified.
