Grew up in Stuttgart. Won two separate Adolf Grimme Awards in 2002, for Best Series/Miniseries as part of the team for Die Manns and for Best Fiction/Entertainment as part of the team for Der Tanz mit dem Teufel. Won a Bavarian TV Award in 2005 for Best Actor in a Movie Made for Television for Speer und er.
Participated in the Shakespeare is German season at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London in 2010.
