Biography
About Ram Sethi
Was a sibling among eight brothers and a sister. Arrived at Mumbai from Delhi for the first time in 1962 to try his luck in films. Was promised Rs.
150 for six months by his father while he was struggling during his initial days in Mumbai. Arrived at Mumbai for the second time in 1964 to associate with filmmaker Ravi Tandon, the Bollywood star actor Raveena Tandon's father. Stayed with Shabana Azmi's cousin, the renowned cameraman Ishan Arya, during his early days of struggle in Mumbai.
Was employed by eminent filmmaker Prakash Mehra for over 20 years and they first worked together on 1 January 1971 for the film Ek Kunwari Ek Kunwara (1973). Had taught debutant actor Rakesh Roshan the correct pronunciations of many Hindi words during the shoot of the film Ek Kunwari Ek Kunwara (1973). Replaced actor Asrani in the role of Pyarelal in Muqaddar Ka Sikandar (1978) which popularised him with the alias Pyarelal.
Independently directed the Bollywood film Ghungroo (1983). Joined the Children's Film Society India (CFSI) as an associate director on an Indo-Russian film called Black Mountain. Appeared in a Hero Maestro scooter advertisement at the age of 73.
