A blond, blue-eyed Australian, actor Daniel Lapaine first made an impression on audiences as the piggish though photogenic object of Toni Collette's affection in Muriel's Wedding. Since his 1994 film debut, Lapaine has been finding steady work in a number of diverse films. In 1998, he appeared in no less than four features, with supporting roles in Polish Wedding, 54, 1999, and Dangerous Beauty.

Unfortunately, every single one of those films received unfailingly hideous reviews (excepting 1999, which was just flat-out unheard of), but the actor's roles were so minor that he managed to avoid any onslaughts of critical vitriol.

The following year was also a prolific one for Lapaine, as he appeared in four more films. The most anticipated of these was Brokedown Palace, a film that featured him as a vile and charming heroin dealer and reunited him with Polish Wedding co-star Claire Danes. He also ventured into the action arena with fellow Aussie Bruce Beresford's Double Jeopardy, co-starring Tommy Lee Jones and Ashley Judd, and tried his hand at romantic comedy starring opposite Emmanuelle Béart in Elephant Juice.

As a nice addition to his productivity, Lapaine was featured in Vanity Fair magazine's "Vanities," historically a section reserved for showcasing the Young, Hot, and Employed.
