About Stephen Tompkinson

Considered entering the priesthood before his grandfather encouraged him to become an actor; later played a frustrated priest in Ballykissangel. Was classmates with James Nesbitt and Rufus Sewell at the Central School of Speech and Drama, London. Won the Best TV Comedy Actor award at the 1994 British Comedy Awards for Drop the Dead Donkey.
In 2003, played Mortimer Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace at The Strand Theatre in London alongside Michael Richards. In 2010, played Erik in the two-part BBC Radio 4 drama Say What You Want to Hear. Played the lead role of King Arthur in Monty Python's Spamalot at the Playhouse Theatre in 2012.
