Biography
About Shilpa Shirodkar
Is the granddaughter of Bollywood actress Meenakshi Shirodkar and elder sister of former Miss India Namrata Shirodkar. Had signed a contract with filmmaker Saawan Kumar Tak that bound her to only his movies, but her liaison with secretary Rakesh Nath for outside projects attracted a case against her. Made her debut as teenager in the role of a blind girl in the film Bhrashtacharar (1989).
Married Aparesh Ranjit, an NRI merchant and investment banker, on 11 July 2000 which coincided with the release of her film Gaja Gamini. Completed a diploma course in hairdressing from Winters School of Hairdressing, Auckland, New Zealand. Had taken up a corporate job with Dun & Bradstreet as a credit controller for more than two years.
Lived outside India in UK, Netherland and New Zealand for 13 years before resettling in India.
