Grew up with an older sister and a younger sister.
Worked in his school yearbook and literary magazine, and was a member of the drama club.
Began his career in radio as an intern at National Public Radio (NPR) in 1978.
Worked as a production assistant to Keith Talbot at NPR.
In 1995, developed This American Life with Torey Malatia after earning a grant from the MacArthur Foundation.
Best know for hosting This American Life since 1995.
