Biography
About William McInnes
First appeared on television in 1990 playing John Freeman in the drama series A Country Practice. Rose in prominence playing Nick Schultz on Blue Heelers from 1994 to '98. In 2009, was appointed Chair to the Advisory Council of the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House.
Wrote the book The Making of Modern Australia in 2010; it was developed into a documentary series in 2014 that McInnes narrated. Was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Performing Arts from the Central Queensland University in 2010. Is sometimes credited with the name Rock Hampton, a nod to the time he spend at in the town of Rockhampton while attending university.
