Biography
About Karthi
Studied mechanical engineering in college. Began working as an engineering consultant after college. On receiving a scholarship from the Binghamton University, grabbed a master's degree in industrial engineering.
Attended a few lectures on filmmaking while in New York. Joined a New York-based firm as a graphic designer. Returned to India with a hope to become a director and started working as an assistant to Mani Ratnam.
Made his debut as an actor in the movie Paruthiveeran (2005). Bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in Tamil for his debut role. In 2006, founded Makkal Nala Mandram, an organisation with an aim to involve his fans to become socially responsible citizens.
Strongly supports the promotion of spreading awareness about lysosomal storage disease. Adopted a white tiger cub at Vandalur Zoo, contributing money for its protection and welfare.
