Left home to live in a hostel age 15 because of problems with his stepfather. His secondary-school drama teacher encouraged him to apply for a scholarship at the Anna Scher stage school, which he won. At 19, made his film debut in Ali G Indahouse as the leader of the East Staines Massiv.
Directed and appeared in Anuvahood, for which he won the BAFTA Rising Star award in 2012. Is an ambassador for the Prince's Trust, a charity that mentors and supports disadvantaged young people.
