Biography
About Dheeraj Kumar
Had migrated with his family from Lahore to Delhi after the partition of India in 1947. Used to perform for All India Radio (AIR) in his school days. Had been selected in the Filmfare Talent Contest among 125,000 candidates from Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, India.
Made his acting debut in film as a young hero in the Bollywood film Raton Ka Raja (1971). Was introduced as a villain in the Bollywood film Heera Panna (1973) by superstar Dev Anand. Acted in his first Punjabi film Daaj in 1976.
Became a first-time producer for a Punjabi film called Fauji Chacha in 1980. Established the production company 'Creative Eye Limited' in 1986. Directed the first 3D Plus film of Indian cinema – Aabra Ka Daabra (2004).
Was awarded the 'Life Time Achievement' award by PTC network in Chandigarh during February 2012.
