Went to the same school and is close friends with Will Poulter. Spotted by an acting scout at his school at the age of 10. Auditioned for The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in London in 2009, but did not get into either.
Nominated as the Most Promising Newcomer in the 2009 British Independent Film Awards. Won a BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Actor for his role in For Those in Peril in 2013. Named as one of European films "Shooting Stars" by European Film Promotion in 2014.
Supports Chelsea Football Club.
