About Amara Karan

Her Sri-Lankan parents moved from Zambia to England two years before she was born. Started acting at Oxford University, Oxford, England in amateur plays and received very good reviews. While at university, she wrote, directed, produced and acted in a short film By Myself which came second in the 2002 Shoestring Shorts Competition.
Began her career as an investment banker specialising in mergers and acquisitions before studying for an MA degree in acting. Made her film début as the love interest in The Darjeeling Limited which premièred at the 2007 Venice Film Festival. Made her stage début in 2008 as Jessica in RSC productions of The Merchant of Venice and as Bianca in The Taming of the Shrew.
Carried the Olympic flame through Wimbledon in 2008. Continues to appear in films, TV series and radio. Voiced the role of Sister Friede in the video game Dark Souls lll in 2017.
