About Niall Matter

At 13, he was writing, directing and starring in his own short films. His parents sent him to work on oil rigs with his grandfather at age 17, which he continued to do off and on until he was 25. In 1999, he portrayed Groucho Marx in the play A Night in the Ukraine, for which he won Best Male Actor at the Alberta High School Zone Provincials.
Studied at the Vancouver Film School. At age 25, he suffered a job-related accident on an oil rig that almost resulted in the amputation of his right leg. One of his first jobs when he moved to Vancouver was "hanging out the side of skyscrapers changing windows and fixing the weather stripping."
