Biography
About Vicky Kaushal
Is the son of Sham Kaushal, the famous action director, who had migrated from Hoshiarpur (Punjab) to Mumbai during 1978. Was raised in the chawls (housing units usually availed by poor working-class) of Malad in Mumbai when his father used to be a stuntman. Refused a job as a Telecommunications Engineer after his graduation and pursued his passion for acting.
Learned acting skills from the famous 'Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute' in Mumbai (India). Assisted the famous director Anurag Kashyap in his film Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). Got his first break as an actor in the 2012 film Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, in which he played the short role of young Omi.
Was given the lead role of Geek in Vasan Bala's short film Geek Out (2013). Was a part of theatre groups of Naseeruddin Shah and Manav Kaul. Had lost 8 kg of weight and spent time at the Manikarnika Ghat to catch the local accent and the way of living at Varanasi to prepare for his character in the film Masaan (2015).
Made his debut in Zubaan (2016) in which his father Sham Kaushal was the action director.
