Parents are teachers. Took classes in clowning and stage combat in college. Was cast in the lead of Sinbad before he had graduated from drama school; eventually missed his graduation ceremony because he was in Malta filming.
Watched previous cinema incarnations of the Sinbad character to prepare for his role. Was admitted to the King Edward VI Aston School Hall of Fame in 2012.
