Left LAMDA when he was spotted by an agent and cast in the role of Benvolio in a 2009 theatre production of Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare's Globe in London. Was Ephesus Antipholus in a theatre production of Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors in 2010, along with Sam Collings and Orla Fitzgerald. Was seen in a production at the Royal Court in 2013 by casting director Andy Pryor, who organised a small role for him in the period drama Dancing on the Edge.
His big break came in 2013 when he starred in a BBC adaptation of P.G. Wodehouse's 1929 comedy Blandings with Jennifer Saunders, David Walliams and Timothy Spall. During the filming of Blandings in 2012 he lived in a cottage in the grounds of Crom Castle in Northern Ireland. Is known for his role as the dastardly George Warleggan in Poldark and for appearances in Poirot.
Both his parents were doctors.
