Biography
About Gufi Paintal
Is the son of a cameraman who worked at the renowned Pancholi's Empire Talkie Distributors of Lahore. Applied at the talent hunt organised by United Producers while studying engineering at Tata Institute of Engineering. Completed graduation in Mechanical Engineering from Tata Institute of Engineering.
Joined the Indian army as a gunner along with 40-50 fellow engineering students after India's war with Pakistan and China. Worked in the Indian army for seven years following which he took up a job and moved to Bombay in 1969. Worked as an assistant director and model in Bombay for a salary of Rs.
200 per month. Donned the role of the epic character Shakuni, who walked defectively, in the series Mahabharat (1988-90), which popularised him for a very long time. Presented a political discussion series on the news channel Saharaa Samaay in the role of Shakuni.
Has been one of the faculties and advisory board member of Ronkel Meri Institute, an art school in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Was appointed head of facility during 2010 at the Abbhinnay Acting Academy in Mumbai, a school established by his Mahabharat co-star Pankaj Dheer.
