Biography
About Maluma
© Rodrigo Varela/Getty Images Entertainment
Played soccer as a child and in high school. Won a talent contest while in 10th grade and starred in a school play the same year. Never seriously considered a career in music, though he always enjoyed singing, until his uncle took him to a studio for his 16th birthday to record a song he'd written.
Nicknamed "Maluma" while in school after he got a tattoo of the first two letters of his mother's, father's and sister's names, which he did as a way of always having them with him. Enjoys meditation and yoga; and has a tattoo of the blooming lotus flower. Has accrued more than 400 million views on his official YouTube channel.
