Performed with a improvisation troupe called Joe Improv while in high school. First TV role was playing Willem Van der Muren in the comedy series Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby in 2005. In 2006, toured New Zealand and Sydney with The Ugly Shakespeare Company; they combine topical cultural references, slapstick comedy and music with traditional Shakespearean plays.
Profile was raised when he played the lead role of Axl Johnson in the drama The Mighty Johnsons from 2010 to '13. Is an ambassador for SAFE New Zealand, the Royal New Zealand Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the New Zealand Shark Alliance.
