Jonas is ordered by the president to meet with the son of an Asian country's overthrown king, who plans to topple the dictatorial regime that ousted his father. Jonas is supposed to fit this in while also protecting a female US senator on a humanitarian mission to the Asian country. To complicate things further, Jonas cannot tell anyone else, even his commander, about the president's orders. Back at the base, the wives help Jeremy plan a surprise engagement party for Crystal.

The Unit enters Iran to plant underground devices that will detect whether nuclear weapons are present, but the plan goes horribly awry and the Defense Department wants answers. Meanwhile, Tiffy considers whether she should help a soldier who went AWOL; and Molly visits Jeremy in the burn unit and is disappointed when Crystal doesn't show up.

Jonas takes command of a South Korean submarine in an attempt to pick up a North Korean scientist who is defecting. Bob oversees the mission from the base, but the plan is placed in jeopardy when Kim reveals a dream she had that is eerily similar to the mission. Ryan learns of the dream and believes Bob told Kim about the plan. Ryan threatens to fire Bob and abort the mission. Meanwhile, on the sub, Jonas deals with the captain who refuses to follow orders.

Jonas and his crew, on a mission to protect a Middle Eastern dignitary at the United Nations, must diffuse a bomb found in the office of the UN secretary general. Meanwhile, Molly and Tiffy visit Vietnam for a ceremony to honour those who fought there. While there, they try to locate a one-time POW. Their search is prompted by a visit from the man's mother, who believes her missing son is still alive. Back at home, Crystal tries to seduce Mack and threatens to tell Tiffy about them.

The Unit competes against other elite military special forces from around the globe in counterterrorism games staged in Hamburg, Germany, to decide which team is the best. But the competition turns deadly when it becomes obvious that someone is seeking to use the games to engage in real terrorism. Meanwhile, Kim meets a former flame while on a business trip and learns that the man is now a multimillionaire and recently divorced.

The Unit captures three Pakistani men from a Waziristan village to take in for questioning, but Jonas and his men are pursued by militia. They take refuge in a US command post staffed with mostly malcontents under the direction of a young female lieutenant who doesn't have the respect of her troops. Jonas quickly takes control and tries to ready the men for the battle he knows is coming when the sun goes down.
