Twenty Medal of Honor recipients share their stories in this moving documentary. "I'm an old soldier. I'm not supposed to be crying," says Lt. Vernon Baker (USA Ret.) as he recalls comrades who didn't survive World War II (Vernon, who is black, had to wait more than 50 years to be honored). Of course, much of the heroism required killing, but Sgt. John Baca (USA Ret.), recalls his relief at not having to kill a North Vietnamese soldier. "It was," he says, "like a beautiful Christmas gift."
