Trivia: Lived in a slum before she was discovered by Lea Productions at the age of 12. Starred in her first ever Lino Brocka classic Maynila: Sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag (1975), which went on to win six FAMAS awards in 1976. Played her first major role in the movie Insiang (1976). Returned to the silver screen with a role in The Mistress (2012), after a 6-year hiatus; received a Luna Best Supporting Actress Award for her performance.
